Remember when SAPE links were the goat?

I remember getting these for my money sites and seeing some drastic ranking improvements.

Sometimes I think it’s too bad that there isn’t anything like this these days. I know SAPW is still around but I have no idea how good they are these days and with all of the crazy stuff with SEO now I’m not sure if I want to take the chance just right now.

I thought these were overhyped after a while. Probs why they dropped off the map so much

Yeah, I remember those days. SAPE links could move rankings incredibly fast, but they were also the definition of "high risk, high reward."

So they are no more used or people still using it?

A good proportion of SAPE links were just hacked Wordpress/Drupal footers. You can still get those sorts of links in the murkier bits of the interweb.

What is interweb? :P

Is this some special kind of internet?

I see people doing sitewide linking still these days. Is this sapper method?

Probably a lot better than comment spam on high OBL pages. No?

High risk sometimes comes with small reward.

So SAPE was premium black hat backlink choice.

Myself and @GoldenGlovez were actually the first service to bring SAPE to the English SEO world.. Speed Rank was the original and very first SAPE service, such a simple idea - I had heard the whispers at the time about it, not many people could access it then or had issues funding it outside of Russia, GG's wife is Russian so we partnered up and he mastered the system with his wife's help and I handled the marketing, promos, clients and so on.

We never in a million years thought it would go how it went, a small number of people got their backs up as we opened Pandora's box.. shit was wild, a few SAPE links way back when we first opened would send sites flying up the rankings in days, I'm yet to see anything like those initial days.

We thought it would only last a few months, thankfully we were wrong... it ran for many years and of course many copy cats popped up.. everyone and their dogs eventually figured out how to sell them then, by that stage though we were the most established so it wasn't such a hard hit on us. In the old days on BHW you were not allowed to copy an original service's idea - that meant for a long time because we got in first we were the ONLY guys on BHW allowed to sell SAPE links based on the old market place rules.

DD bought the forum and opened the flood gates, the BHW market place was special because of those old rules I still feel to this day - it stood out because the services there had to be unique.. you didn't have 200 guys all selling the same shit back then... great times and millions made from a simple brain fart I had.

Damn I remember that.

I miss those old rules requiring the service to actually be unique. Must’ve been sweet to pocket so much cash from that idea and not have to worry about every copy cat coming in.

That sounds like it was heaven for people with innovation. Oh my god.

I vaguely remember reading about them but they were well before my time.

Ah the old SAPE days were great; back when it was still a kind of wild west. The excitement of seeing a page jump up umpteen spots in a few days was real, and a great money spinner too
I was a teenager and my internet friend had access to that. I barely spoke English back then. It would take me 3 hours to write an article... as usual, Google was useless in this matter of SAPE links. You had to have connections.

Today I can do it all in 3 seconds, but my perception of money has changed from extreme hunger to moderate. It's good because I can focus... but I can't do stupid amount of workhours.

It wasn’t perfect but it was far better than a lot of other marketplaces at the time. Sales were way af if you knew what you were doing. Shit even if you didn’t know what you were doing lol

It was epic, like @RiskyStuff said below you.. if you were good at coming up with innovative/unique ideas you could really smash it on there, that's something I like to think I've always been good at doing so BHW was a gold mine for me back in the early first few years of being there. DD destroyed it with his "free market" bullshit... clear as day to see what that did to the market place now, perhaps in hindsight he regrets it although actually I wouldn't hold my breath as the man is a stubborn mule so would never admit to being wrong.

Yeah though, place is cooked now... a cluster fuck of 1000s of services, a mess to even get through and find what you're looking for. I noticed it happening early on and made moves to get my ass out of relying on it for traffic before shit got really bad.

"Free market" lmao. Nothing more than an excuse to approve as many threads as possible for money.

Marketplace 2 was probs their way to dealing with the mess they made but how long's it been since that was announced? Like 8 years at this point? Still no preview or no solid details on what it'll have. Bet that's going to be the final nail in the coffin if they ever release that shit.

He's been banging on about that new market place since I was fucking moderator there and that's a lifetime ago... the trust is gone now, it would be super hard to ever get it back now. SEO has moved on and BHW is cringed at now by 99% of the SEO world, that ain't changing with some new market place imho.
