Implemented Allow senior members to recommend posts to be highlighted

Basically, this follows Z's round of highlighting a bunch of threads from a couple of hours ago.

We got to a size that some of the good threads are "missed", a good example would be this one:

That I haven't seen, and would've probably missed if it wasn't for the recent bump.

My idea is to let users from a certain rank (not sure which at this point - just to prevent it from being spammed) to recommend posts for the newsletter or to be highlighted, for final approval from the mods.
Something similar to reporting a post, just the other way around.

This to allow more threads to get the exposure they "deserve" and give quality threads more attention.

There was a thread somewhere, but it's not future-proof, I'm afraid. I also reported a few thread in the past, but I think it can be a bit confusing for the staff to start determining bad from good reports.

I think that a 'recommend' button next to the report would fit somewhat seamlessly with the flow and would probably help the staff go over the recommendations more conveniently.

I’ll consider this one as being close enough.


I’m still looking into solutions for this. I thought I found one the other day, but it was apparently buggy and not worth adding in. I’ll keep looking to see what can be done. Ideally, adding a “recommend” button next to the report button would be nice. If I can’t put anything in, I’ll just write up a site guide about how to recommend a post or thread using the existing features here.

Okay, there's a new category on the support desk under Content called "Recommend A Highlight". You can also use the report button to recommend a post to be a highlight as well.

If you're a member and you want to recommend that a post or thread is highlighted, simply use the report button or go to the support desk and select the subcategory "Recommend a Highlight" under "Content".
