Anyone built one?

If so, do I need to lift the coals on another grill for air flow? I'm thinking I'll be fine just placing them on a flat surface and lighting them.

There's no lid so it's not like I can control the air flow or dampen it, it will just be at 1 setting? Or is there a set rule I should lift them.

I figured as I'm building mine and its sat on clay tiles it would be fine, my pizza oven doesn't have a grill and that heats and cooks just fine, BUT all store bought ones do and I figure thats because of the lid making the difference to control the air flow, you would want air to get under the charcoal to help it maintain a burn.

Right or wrong?

Shit if you have raw food prepared I'll attend as well.

Right?

You will probably be my best guest as I won't have to do anything for you.

Welcome any time.
Let me tell you.

I tried to BBQ a chicken drumstick once.

Undercooked as fuck.

And was vile since it was both warm in certain areas and cold in others.

Mine will be 100% cold.

In fact I got a cobb we take on camping trips you can have that. No coals. Totally cold. Perfect for raw "cooking"

I'll cater for my guests unless your a vegetarian or some confused gender type

Yeah plus all the rusting if you dont cover, having to put away etc.

Mine will be nice. Once its made ill send photos going to lay the clay tiles this morning first now so base done then build up from there.

I ordered a stupidly oversize grill so its going to be a little bigger than I planned out space for, but that dont matter just more cooking area to feed more people

Base just waiting for it to firm up left over hand made clay tiles from pizza oven build

Caps added and finishes right sise obviously I cleaned up pointing.

Metal tabs there to hold coal grill if I need one for better air flow don't think I will need it tho

Will the front stay open?
yeah front will stay open once its got a scratch coat over it for rendering ill do a better photo of it all, my pizza oven is built into the retaining wall behind it so its a nice little outdoor cooking area

Grill is 700mm x 460mm so big cooking space
