We, most of the Founding members are daily active looking for problems that can be fixed here, or even suggest on improvements. Those get handled in a timely manner. But that will eventually end, will that be the end of the barebone chapter ? I think we will be way past that by then.
I for one am more active here than the other forum.
Issues I have with the other side.
------
1. Stalewater
There are no real practical methods or opportunities offered or talked about. I cannot recall if anything new/exciting has been shared in the last 2 years that was really actionable.
2. Crypto "scam"
Gambling and YOLO mindset is king. Someone got lucky and earned some $$$$$ on pump.fun makes a thread and a few dozen get urged to join in 99.9% have probably lost more than earned back.
3. Reddit section & marketplace
The reddit section gets dominated by the same few people. Every thread it is the same damn answer that they give. I mean there is really nothing else that they can say and it is not their fault. Everything depends on IP, fingerprints.
But then those sellers go on to sell Accounts on the marketplace!!! The accounts get banned on first login or first post. Guess what seller will not refund you and say you didn't warm up the account. That is really scummy, they are not getting actioned. Also most of them have a clause which says buy a small batch of accounts first to test first.
4. Not inviting to new users. ( never was)
Newcomers get send a wall of text ( same size as Terms and Conditions) that nobody is going to read. After which they make their first post with a question that has been asked over and over again. They are not going to use the search bar to find a potential answer. Nope members have found a more entertaining way, which is troll the OP or giving breadcrumbs and generalized/bad information. This is not only done by member but also by staff.
Example: Someone got a C&D from Meta he asked if it was legit and if he should take it seriously. First comment was by a staff which stated that he never got one from Meta and that notice would be great wallpaper if applied correctly.
OP quoted and replied that he really need advice.
Mod : Ignore the C&D.
OP makes a few more posts but the staff member is never seen in that thread again. Other members have helped the OP somewhat, from Ignore, get legal advice.
One member even stated that someone on that forum got in huge legal trouble for ignoring a C&D from Meta ( no idea how true that is but if true kinda reckless to say to ignore the notice especially as a staff)
* some of you like the person from having interacted with him on the platform, others are friends, have worked together and even met in person.
5. Mentorship are SCAM!
That place detest mentorships. I agree that most of the courses offered are hugely overpriced. But sometimes you do have good courses where you can learn practical and applicable information.
I am not in the Creative media space, but during my search on how to photoshop a certain thing I came across an old course of Chris Do ( The Futur), this was a paid, in person seminar, but got recorded for socials I suppose. Anyways from that video I learned on how to do my pricing better, and for most of the services I have offered since I have used that method.
So NO I did not pay for a mentorship, some people did but got the same Information I have gotten waaay sooner, and with help.
I really hope we do not turn this forum into a place like that.
