I use apps for 2-step because I think it's the most secure. Your email can get hacked after all.

Phone verification isn't too bad either but someone could steal your phone and maybe read your text messages even when it's locked unless you have that disabled. Phone verification is just my backup for when app 2-step isn't available.

Exactly. Everything can get hacked, but if it were me, I'd use 2FA from an app.
