This is just a quick tip as I've been doing more work on servers lately.

When purchasing a plan with a web hosting company, you'll usually be presented with 3 options:
  • Monthly
  • Yearly
  • Every 3 years
I used to purchase the 3 years plans with every web hosting company I've worked with. However, I realised this actually causes some issues. Namely, the web hosts tend to upgrade their equipment over time, so my websites would be stuck on their older physical servers whilst new customers would get their sites placed on the newer physical servers.

That's actually the issue we experienced here on Office Outlaw back in March and April. I had a 3 year plan with our current web host, but when I needed more resources for the VPS, the physical server my sites were on could not actually handle that. Despite upgrading, we had loads of delays and downtime issues. They had to move my account over to a new physical server with their upgraded equipment to resolve the issue.

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this as well, but this has been my experience thus far.

waitttttttt

This is only important for smart people's hosting.
Us, dumbasses can buy 4 years hosting deals because we only use it for WP websites.
YAYYYYYYY

I think the same only use if you use sites or servers for experiments I bought a couple of ltd hosting to test out dummy sites
