This has been on my mind for a few weeks, but didn't have much of an example to demonstrate it with until a few hours ago.

I obviously disgusted @SilverClouds with my comment about being an employee, yet, her reaction still gave me karma as if it was a positive reaction.

I think we should assign a different karma bonus to different reactions:
(y) = 10
😁 = 5
😂 = 15
 = 10
 = 1
❤️ = 15
 = 5
😮 = 10
🔥 = 15
🙏 = 15

This keeps the average karma per reaction about the same (10 today vs 10.1 in the suggestion - depends on how it's actually distributed, of course)

So the green sick emoji isn't 90s for thats sick bro and cool?

The same as fire isn't die.

Gotcha

I like the suggestion.

I really like this suggestion! Nice thinking, @roydan!

I just checked and it does look like it's possible to do.

Although, I have a slight adjustment to that: let's make the basic like worth 5 Karma and the haha worth 10 Karma. It's only because I feel the like it a lot more neutral and should be worth less Karma.

Other than that, I like what you did here by making the Eww reaction worth 1 Karma and the Huh reaction 10 Karma. The new reaction is arguably more negative and should definitely worth less. The Huh reaction is more neutral, so 5 Karma makes sense to me.

I mean... I'm probably more disguisted with my clients thinking I'm their employee 😂 (I don't have an employment contract, wtf you want from me even) and with weird anti-entrepreneurship sentiment on this forum (it's for hustlers and/or anti-work, no?)
yet, her reaction still gave me karma as if it was a positive reaction.
I mean... That's a reaction too, lol.

Possible to do a minus like on Reddit? People can downvote into a negative there.

think it would be possible but I can see how that might get abused lol

Piss off the wrong person and suddenly all of your posts have an ew reaction on them and then all your karma is gone.

Yeah, that would be my concern as well.

I was looking into something to limit reactions to maybe about 100-200 per day after that botting incident, but it became too tedious to add in, so I just shelved it. If we had something like that though, then negative Karma reaction would be more feasible in the future.

Omg you're right, didn't think about it 😂

Would the sick one be better to just give 0 "none" instead of 1?

Everything else feels balanced.

I only say as a member tried to teach me a lesson by giving me 10+ laughing emojis which I didn't mind but under this system id get 150 karma for someone being pissed off with me.

Least this way if they go and puke on everything I type I'm not rewarded with anything vs getting a possible 15?

I'd that the last day showed that some people are too easily offended. Imagine what would happen if you gave them negative karma as well :ROFLMAO:

Honestly I added one because it feels more insulting than none lol

He was right... Too much venom without a reason. He protected his peace.
Who was right? Who are we talking about?

A general rule of thumb should be:
1. If you're offended, ask for clarifications.
2. If you want to leave, just stop signing in - that ban request is just pointless drama.

1. If you're offended, ask for clarifications.
Or just ignore dumb shit, why waste hours on clarifications on something that isn't even work related.

Yeah
- that ban request is just pointless drama.
Perhaps a bit of an overkill. But these two cause way more drama on a regular basis than his one time ban request did.

Which takes us back to the previous suggestion:

And that's pretty much it.
The problem is when most users on a forum start acting like this then the only way to ignore is to leave 😂. Which he did.

Upvoted. This just feels like common sense.

EDIT: I guess we are still talking about that other thread drama. At the end of the day, this is an optional place for people to come to. Whether or not I think some people get offended too easily, if they don’t like it here, they will leave. They’d be kind of stupid to stay somewhere that irritated them constantly.

most users on a forum
Who are most of the forum?

And who are we talking about? Two people left yesterday.

I don't know, when you want to leave you usually just leave, you don't need to announce that unless you're trying to make a point - and that's not really leaving.

It's a real shame they left but ffs it's just a bunch of strangers on the internet, it shouldn't be that hard to handle.

8 upvotes on this one. That's nice to see.

This one will be implemented later today. It's a little tedious to add in and I'll need to rewrite the site guide on the Karma system.

Thank you everyone who voted on this and shared your thoughts.
