Facebook Has anyone had success using Facebook for client acquisition?

I'm trying to move away from freelancing platforms and build my own direct client base.
My plan was to find high-intent prospects who are struggling or need help, offer them a solution, and funnel them to Telegram where they can see past work, vouches, and pricing.
I considered Facebook, but I haven't used it in years and it seems a lot has changed.

Today I signed up for an account and joined a lot of freelancing, marketing groups etc.
At first glance I noticed they are all spammed to death by Indians, Nigerians, Pakistani and most of the posts are probably scams (not trying to offend anyone from this countries I personally know a lot of guys who are honest and hard working)
From my observation:

• In freelancing groups 99% for the jobs are scams or people trying to outsource work for dirt cheap, never pay first, barely speak English and have delusional requests.
• In marketing groups 99% are sellers posting their listings + CTA with their contact info.
• The comments are the same ( Are this guys just scamming each other and wasting each other time?)

I tried searching with keywords like “want to buy X,” “looking for X,” “copyright strike,” “removals,” etc., and despite setting location filters to the UK, US, or other countries, results still return many profiles from India, Nigeria, and Pakistan. They are everywhere.

My questions:

1. Has anyone found success acquiring clients from Facebook?
2. Is my approach wrong?
3. Should I do what most people do? I mean post in groups with a hook + image + CTA (WhatsApp/Telegram link or QR code) and hope clients reach out? If so, do those people actually get results, or is it mostly low-quality leads?
4. Is Facebook the wrong platform? Is the traffic poor quality and not worth the effort?

For context, I offer the following services:

• Social media accounts with stats (TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, etc.)
• ORM services (review management, review removals, article de-indexing, etc.)

Any experiences, tips, or alternatives would be appreciated.

I got some clients from FB and occasionally get a new one from there because it's people that saw me posting and helping for years. I'm not sure whether an account that registered today have any chance of acquiring a client in this space.

Would you have paid upfront to a seller that signed up to FB today? Neither would I.

I think we're not living in 1970 and this type of look on human relationships in business is just... bad operational framework.

Never worked for me.
And it's pretty toxic too because you look at people like some items? A pure node in transaction?

What works then? Hehe, the other forum. Middlemen who have client base and reputation (many reviews). Selling privately to your homies.

I’m established on multiple platforms and have references and testimonials. I’m trying to find out whether Facebook can work for acquiring traffic and funneling it to my Telegram, where I can take over communications and discuss business.

Regarding the "upfront payment" example: most people in these groups make delusional requests like "give me 100 Google reviews first and I'll pay you later" or "don't worry, dear, sir, madam"
No escrow, no contract etc. I was trying to point out they are obvious scams.

Oh, and a lot of AI women are contacting me for no reason with messages like "Hey baby" and then they get very aggressive if I don't reply

Maybe this thread title should be: "explain Facebook to me like I'm five"

This is very doable and thriving in my home country in my native tongue, but I do struggle with getting international clients there for the reasons you mentioned. Couple times I did get a foreign client it was from my profile post, yeah. Nothing singnificiant and can't really scale this. Honestly also looking for steady foreign free traffic options. Not sure if for foreign clients on fb you just need to run ads .

Facebook is like mining for gold. Maybe you'll find some if you dig deep enough. Maybe it's good if you have deep pockets.

Also, problem is selling digital services on Facebook. It's harder to build connections with this chaotic website than it is with email and YouTube / videos. And 3rd world is dominating digital services, so 99% of people will just beg you to give away for free.

Selling physical products is easier because you can target it easily. This stuff, it's hardcore. One of the reasons I don't want to touch this type of hustle with a ten foot pole.

1. Build a group - how? No idea. Or maybe a page? Who knows?! How?! No idea!
2. Educate that audience. Make referrals out of them. Make business friends with them.
3. Sell them resources.

That's the only way I see it, but I can't think of step 1... How hard it must be... is it even worth it compared to other things...

Maybe do more omni-channel approach and build a community with fanpage, group, discord, subreddit and what else! 50 different things because that's how many there are these days.

That's how kids want to run their businesses, be everywhere, do everywhere. Absolute visibility like it's some fucking contest of visibility, not ROI anymore, not having more accounts and better friends in business (so called clients).

Why not start SEO? Why not start GEO? Why not start 50 YouTube channels?

For one man army? Horizontal scaling across the same social media site is better than operating on 5 social media sites having to split your attention to learn 5 different algorithms.

Makes sense. That's why I wanted to find out whether Facebook is a good traffic source.

Facebook is a good traffic source but probably due to the war news the reach has decreased?

I am seeing a lot of my friends doing fb organic and it's getting them good leads

For Pakistani man $2 a day is a lot of money.

For you or me it's one meal like peanuts.

It's different world economically.

Go look on YouTube how they craft and build things. It's beatiful in some sense to see it all in such raw form without all modern factory processes. They build cars out of scrap and houses out of adobe.

I used to spam Facebook for $10 a day to survive tough times. I mean, I quickly found something better and it was YouTube.
