On July 1, 2025, at 00:00 UTC, ICANN will be increasing the fee included in every domain registration, renewal and transfer. As a result, all our gTLD registrations, renewals, and transfers will increase by $0.02.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

It might seem like nothing but that 2 cents could turn into 2 dollars and then 20 dollars before you know it. Sometimes these small increases end up being companies testing the waters with what they can get away with.

ICANN is a nonprofit. Quite an established one, too..

They are in charge of assigning all the domain names, so I really doubt they're just testing the waters for further price increases.

ICANN fees didn't change in years and inflation has its effect on everything, so I think it wasn't greed as it was just a poor attempt at balancing the fee to what it used to worth. Really poor attempt.

You know I think that's a fair enough explanation. Maybe they can be given the benefit of the doubt knowing that.

Appreciate the explanation.
