Either make your game just subscription so users know upfront if I stop paying I will not be playing.


Or change your policies you buy the game but after X years we will shut down the servers with the option to self host.

You should be safe SimCity 2000 never had online support.

I agree though game industry has been broken and in decline for ages its all about who can get away with taking the piss for the longest and then others join in, every year I think they alternate who's going to take test the waters first - I mean take the piss.

We were self hosting counter strike 2 and halo from a stickie in high school.

People are going out of their ways to make emulators for old games. If every company says we will let it die. Players will lose some of their nostalgia and gaming history

That's part of why many people collect games to stop that from happening as much for example I got these
