Lately I’ve been getting very poor-quality leads for my services.
In the past two days I’ve noticed a pattern and I’m wondering whether this is a scam.
I always offer demos: videos, video calls, escrow.com, etc.
Once I told a buyer I could show him everything via Discord screenshare or FaceTime and he refused, saying it “has to be Anydesk"
Is this a scam? Are they trying to hijack accounts or remotely download my entire hard drive? I think I read about something like that somewhere.
What do you think about this kind of request? Are you comfortable giving remote access to your computer to a stranger?
In the past two days I’ve noticed a pattern and I’m wondering whether this is a scam.
- First red flag: the alleged “buyer” is overly friendly and asks personal questions (e.g., “Where are you from?”). Why would a client care where I’m from?
- Conversation proceeds normally: they ask questions about the item/service.
- Then they say: “Please allow me to check via Anydesk.”
