Should the forum have a Goods for Credit section, or keep it as is ?

The section would make it easier to track for users and mods on what is actually being traded. Since everything us hidden behind a "paywall" malicious users could just insert a link or pdf etc. without being noticed. ( for some time at least)

No idea if it is even possible though to enable it for just a part.

I also vote for double or triple warning points for anyone who wanna be stupid by putting malicious or prohibited things behind the credit system as a way to skirt the ToS

I'm not sure if it's possible yet, but I don't know if it's a good idea for the following reasons:
  • There's no way to cash out credits for actual money, or vice versa. Well, being able to purchase credits is possible, but I disabled that because I want them to be earned and to not have a Z Bucks situation where some rich guy come on treat it like a pay-to-win system.
  • The credits system is meant to just be used for fun. I did consider using it for The Trading Post when I first saw it, but that requires adding a whole new system and would massively change the way money is used on the forum. There is a safety aspect of it that shouldn't be ignored, but we just don't really have the ability to manage that kind of system just yet.
  • I don't know how true this one is, but I saw another user who bought the add-on mention that if you using it within your marketplace, there might be some conflicts with using it elsewhere on your forum. It sounds like it's an either or type of situation.
Admins and moderators still see the content as they normally would, so if anyone pulls any stunts like that, we can see it.

Yeah, that would be really annoying. We could write up a credits abuse warning for something like that once everything is more established.

Well, here's an idea. If someone seriously wanted to do things for credits but can accept that they can't be exchanged for real money, we could just allow people to exchange credits in the Wanted: Goods & Services section.

We can add in a tick box asking if they accept credits. This way, it's an option and we won't have to create a whole new subforum for it.

Somebody could do that in The Trading Post if they wanted to using the charge BBCode.

I can always write about it in The Trading Post rules.

That would be a good common ground.

Would also be an idea for the download section/giveaway.

So things actually accessible to forum users instead of unregistered or bots.
( would require more ways to earn credits though)

I'm looking into more ways to earn credits.

I created an example of it for The Trading Post here: https://officeoutlaw.com/threads/example-of-a-trading-post-listing.337/post-6348

I also added it to the listing bumping rules so traders know they can do that.
Section 7: Listing Bumping
Our listing bumping rules in The Trading Post are simple:
  1. After your initial review has been completed, you may post your first response whenever you're ready.
  2. Every response after should only be posted after 24 hours.
  3. In your promotional bump, you can use the charge tag to charge credits for others to view content, like a coupon code. You can see an example of it here.
Encouraging it for the downloads section is a great idea. I'll add those shortly.

Okay, it's been added as an optional checkbox in the Wanted: Goods & Services section.

As always, this was a nice suggestion, @Octavia! :)
