Android Talk me into a mobile upgrade.

I've been putting off a mobile upgrade forever. I like my current phone, it works but it's showing it's age and I think it's 10 years old next year.

I'm not one for fancy tech. I like everything about my current phone.

I have a Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Far as I'm concerned it's the best mobile I've ever had. BUT recently the phone is super quiet when talking to people (no not my hearing & have cleaned out speaker) I think I've gotten my money out of it.

So. What do I get? I got no clue!

Talk me into something. I don't want Apple.

Whats a nice progression from what I got now. I don't think I can get anymore Huawei phones in the UK? Everyone spies so I don't give a fuck about some guy in China, plus I'm not running for government.

If I were to buy a new one I would either buy a Pixel or an Iphone depending on preference of operative system, and in my preference one of the Pro Max sized ones in both cases.

Considering you dont want Apple and dont give a fuck about getting spied you can get a Samsung S26, its the lates one. Has almost same screen with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro you have. Maybe you are used to that size and want the same.

If you want a bigger screen you can go for the S26 Ultra.

Just buy a phone. Pixels are fine and easy to get used to.
I myself have the 9 bc Rem told me to, not sure if it's the pro or not, probably not because if there's one thing I hate is phones that are too big to type with one hand.

Yeah thats what people tell me. I think I took the keeping green agenda a bit too seriously least I got my carbon out of it and not added to a landfill yet..

Considering you dont want Apple and dont give a fuck about getting spied you can get a Samsung S26, its the lates one. Has almost same screen with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro you have. Maybe you are used to that size and want the same.

Not fussed on the screen size. Don't want an apple just on the basis I dont want to be upgraded out of space with the iOS dont know if thats still a thing.

Screen maybe need a bit bigger as I got reading glasses now, but my phone is perfect at semi arms length away.

Samsungs are safe bets but I also have an issue with screens cracking eventually. I haven’t had a Samsung in a few years though, so maybe that’s no longer an issue.

DO NOT get a flip phone. The screens always broke for me after a month and replacement screens are either ridiculously expensive or unavailable.

If you like Huawei, then you might be able to import an unlocked one yourself and setting it up with your mobile carrier. Check Reddit to see if anyone in the UK has done that as there’s always someone on Reddit who tries something like that.

I would say it's a mindset in our country this one bro. For phone doesn't shows anything I go with a mid tier Samsung and it works fine for me even though everyone tells me this exact thing, u are a tech bro ,u are a businessman u can't stay with that phone buy iPhone bla bla bla.

I live in Spain and honestly i kinda feel the same here. Seems like @t2van has the same "problem" in UK.

And tbh, I havent really seen anyone involved in serious business, Im talking businesses like construction, real estate development, big IT firms, etc. walking around with a €200 phone. They either use a Samsung S model, or an Iphone. Lately Pixel too. Thats from my experience.

Im not arguing iPhone vs Samsung. It can be either, but at least a decent phone thats not more than 3 years old.

Personally, I use a 16 Pro Max and a Pixel 9. Im not upgrading to the 17 Pro Max because it just doesnt make sense when my current phone still works perfectly fine. But Ill probably replace the 16 Pro Max next year since Ive started noticing the battery degrading a bit.

But i definitely wouldnt keep using an iPhone 12. No offense, but its really slow now and honestly kinda gives off “brokie” vibes lol

I know it does the job. You can still make calls, use whatsap and open email but hell nah...

I'm still rocking a Huawei Mate 9 I bought in Taiwan in early 2017. Fantastic phone, still does everything I need from it. It's definitely a bit long in the tooth and I don't like the lack of continued Android security updates but I don't really do any banking on it.

I'm thinking about a change to a new phone soon as well though partly because the charging port is starting to get a bit finicky. I was considering waiting until my next trip over there to get a new one, but I'm a bit unsure about the HarmonyOS change.

I'm old school, I'll use tech until it disintegrates and I can't fix it with some solder. Planned obsolescence can kiss my ass.
