Which Domain Registrars Do You Currently Use?

  • Namecheap/Spaceship

  • Cloudflare

  • Porkbun

  • Domain

  • Njalla

  • Gandi

  • Network Solutions

  • Others (like IONOS, Hover, Squarespace, DreamHost, Dynadot etcetc)

I used Namecheap first, then switched to Porkbun for a bit... and it was really smooth and easy to manage. But most of my domains were still on NC, so I recently moved the two I had on Porkbun back to NC to keep everything in one place.

I still recommend Porkbun to people all the time though.

Porkbun
Namesilo
Namecheap

These are the three main ones.

lol
That reminds me of the time I got an $0.08 raise at my first job. They told me the news and expected me to be excited and were disappointed when I didn’t react.

imagine that 8 cent put you over to the next tax bracket

Prokbun, name cheap and godaddy as well but now don't want to stay with GoDaddy anymore, poor customer service

Going go off a tangent rant here

I don't know why it's so well reccomended, espically on reddit.
Their website is trash, their security in place is pathetic
and their hosting sucks balls and crashes under load.
I had domains with them a couple of years ago.
There was one Christmas rush, when they were giving out some domains for free.

I had a domain that was about to expire with them.
I COULD NOT get into their stupid ass system to renew it.
it's my fault it wasn't on auto-renew?
No, its not. Your shitty website shouldn't crash under load. If you are going offer free domains, great. But if that's going impact your CURRENT customer base, then. what's the point, a paying customer vs a freebie customer?

I did not lose the domain since I was able to renew it during the grace period.
But that was the last straw for me.

There was also other times where I just couldn't log in, their system keeps repeating the ARE YOU A BOT crap.
And password reset wouldn't send to my gmail email. (or my gmail wasn't receiving it)

Overall, just purely dissatisfied with them
Very positive most of the reddit reccs for them are bots from them
Oh. OH. Thanks for sharing. I'm currrently with them 😬. Years ago I used Enom and Moniker. I had a problem with Moniker, when they got hacked they blocked all accounts (good) but to unblock your account as a paying customer you had to *make an international phone call to US*, no skype, no nothing. That's just crazy how they ignore their European customers. I ended up not renewing and never getting a domain from them again. Network Solutions is a scam registrar, just don't. Can't believe they're still out there scamming people all these years later.
I've never heard of that one. It sounds like a nightmare to use.

I've got my own shitty domain registrar story as well. You see, there was a domain registrar that I used a long time ago to get a .tk domain. I don't know how many people remember this particular registrar, but I saw others talking about experience I had with them. So apparently, whenever the sites they set up with these .tk domains would start getting about 10 visitors/day, the domain registrar would just reclaim the domain and put their own stuff up on it. I kid you not, they even did this to me. I didn't care that much because it was just a crappy site I filled with some affiliate links, but it's like 'dude'...

I forgot what the deal was that meant they did this. Maybe the domains were really cheap or even 'free', but I think someone pointed out that they had some clause in their TOS about how they reclaim domains for any reason. It was a weird registrar.
Well. I might have used a free (sub)domain that looked nice (just for social media, not seo) from a service that all botnet owners use *cough*. Worked well for a while until some idiot started spreading malware on facebook itself and I had to buy a real domain to stop being blocked every 10s. I know I have weird life problems.

Currently using Domtake to register domains and Previous was Namecheap.

CF (almost unbeatable for many TLDs, especially coms) - unfortunately still missing a lot of country specific TLDs (de etc.)

For those we stick to a mix of Dynadot, Name, Namesilo, Namcheap and Porkbun.

We never use gdaddy anymore, unless its for auctions. Also moved away from Gandi.

If I had to pick just two: CF & Namesilo.

Godaddy for Personal domains.
you are one of the few brave members left :)

ngl, i was gonna put a few into godaddy cuz MS had their domains integrated for them
but that was a few years ago before they made it impossible for personal accounts to add domains to their acc lol
