I was going back through some of my old articles to rewrite them the other day. I usually do this whenever I have writer’s block and can’t come up with new topics, but I was thinking that I could just write new versions of the old articles instead. You know that way my site looks like it’s getting updated with new content more often.

There are some benefits in it to rewrite the old content sure but I have a lot of returning readers who expect to see new content on the homepage. These people don’t go searching the site for the old content so it feels like wasted effort.

What about all of you? So you rewrite old content or just write new articles on the old topic with updated information?

I prefer editing old articles because I prefer acquiring new readers than hope old ones browse the homepage..

You can probably take it one step ahead and have a category on the homepage showing a few recently edited posts.. will probably help you index the changes faster as well.

That’s a sweet idea with showing recently edited articles. That would work for me since my own returning readers hit the homepage first.

It is better to edit the old content. Google still crawls the pages and updates. You can use to improve content that does not rank so well. It is known strategy in seo industry.

Rare I go back to edit anything the second, third of 10th time around really. The only reason we go back and edit is if we need to add a new product link to the relevant big of content or the table. Apart from that, no we just churn out tons of content and interlink everything like crazy.
