I'm looking for a new way to manage our email marketing. So looking for recommendations for anything that can do the following:

1. Custom Templates
2. BULK book emails

1&2 are a MUST and I think everything offers that these days.

3. New members schedule

This is the most important one and is pushing the move. What I want to do is when we add a new customer to the list they get the welcome emails but rather than start at the beginning they are part of the list from the most recent email series.

So at the moment we don't do this because if we add a customer and they get a welcome email the series of newsletters starts from say January.

What I want is when we add a new customer joins today April 22nd they get the welcome email and then they are automatically added to the list and they get the last email just gone (preferred) or and most important they get the one due on Thursday 23rd so they can join the email series at any time and get the most recent email rather than starting from the start.

Hope that makes sense.

Legitimate businesses mailing out like yourself is precisely why Amazon SES exists.

I consult for multiple clients doing close to your numbers - almost all are Ecom shops and/or SaaS running promos.

With your requirements, I'd recommend a combination of Sendy + Amazon SES.

SES is a trusted service and it costs $0.10 per 1k emails. So you're looking at about $80 in email costs every month. A few more for the Sendy server and we can round it an even 100.

For any other solution (Active campaign etc. you're looking at spending between $500 to $2000 every month on your 800k emails)

SES is largely an API based system, so you need something that sits on top of it, and helps you manage it. Which is where Sendy comes in - https://sendy.co/

It's a self-hosted tool that does pretty much everything that you need and doesn't blink at 100k emails. One time cost of $69

To answer your requirements -

Custom Templates

Sendy supports complete HTML templating. While it doesn't have the drag and drop builder like Mailchimp etc. You can purchase a custom template or use a third party builder or ask your developer to build you one and simply copy based it in Sendy. It becomes fully editable so your team can handle everything.

Managing New Members

So the solution to this is pretty simple.

You need to setup campaigns and not an autoresponder drip.

I am assuming you want to preload promo emails for every month (Valentine's Day in February, Christmas Promo in December etc.)

So you/your team create campaigns for every day with the exact date. And set it to mail out to the "active" list.

When someone joins on April 22, they trigger your Welcome Autoresponder - this is only one email. After that, they just sit on the "active" list.

Because the January-mid-April campaigns have already been sent, Sendy ignores them. The very next thing they receive is the campaign pre-scheduled for April 23.

Yes we send out tips and information, tools, give aways etc so we want the right information sent for when somone joins not the start from the start we have experienced.
