When you created your account, you may have noticed there's a karma system on your profile.
This is a system used on Office Outlaw mostly just for fun, but it can be used mostly for whatever you want to use it for.
One thing to be aware of is that karma cannot be purchased with real money nor can they be exchanged for real money. So, whilst you can use karma for transfers or exchange it for goods and services, there's no way to "cash out".
How Is Karma Earned?
Karma is earned by the following actions:
Karma is lost either through spending them or by negating the action that caused them to be received. For instance, if you lose a star, you'll lose the 50 karma you got from getting it.
Additionally, the following causes karma to be lost:
Donating Karma To Other Members
You're able to give other members karma. You can use this for any reason, including gift giving or transactions if you choose to do so.
Click the "Karma" option on someone's profile and you'll see a "Donate" button.
Charging Others To View Content
You can use the BBCode below to put content behind a karma wall (replace 'X' with the number of karma you wish to charge). This means that users will have to spend karma to view the content. Any karma spent to view this content you posted will be received by you.
Bear in mind that rules still apply, so do not put anything that violates our rules behind this paywall. Admins and moderators can still see the content without paying as well.
What Can Karma Be Spent On?
Aside from viewing content between the "charge" code tag, karma can also be spent on cosmetics on the Upgrades page.
Currently, we only have the "Hot Rod" badge, which costs $10 (1000 karma). Note that whilst a dollar amount is displayed, you can currently only purchase this with karma. Yeah, I know, annoying, but we can't change that yet.

How Is Karma Earned?
Karma is earned by the following actions:
- By receiving reactions. Each reaction gets you 1 karma
- By receiving trophies. 10 karma per trophy until we can work out how to increase that number.
- By receiving stars. 50 karma per star.
- For your birthday. 100 karma!
- You get 5 karma for when someone follows you.
- You get 1 karma for following users.
- 25 karma if your thread gets stickied.
- Starting threads gets you 5 karma. Note that threads cannot just be a few words, otherwise the karma is not awarded.

Additionally, the following causes karma to be lost:
- Warnings. Receiving a warning deducts 500 karma from your account.
